#MostRequestedLive Interview: Lauv Calls Julia Michaels 'Best Songwriter'

Lauv sat down for an interview with Maxwell on #MostRequestedLive! He talked about new music and lots more.

On what it's like now that everyone knows his name:

"Incidentally, it's what I dreamed of doing when I was a kid. In the MySpace era, me and the bands I was in would play all these shows to zero people and tour around; my sister would drive us on tour. So yeah, it's crazy to go to places - like getting to go to Tokyo for the first time this year, and places like that, that I've wanted to go since I was a little kid. The fact that the shows are sold out and people are coming... it makes it real."

On if it's scary now that people are watching his every move:

"For me, it's not so much scary, but I think it's just holding myself to a high standard. Just trying to make sure I'm always doing things that are in line with what I believe. Both my parents are scientists, and my Mom is trying to cure HIV AIDS - she works in vaccine research - so I'm always trying to think from a standpoint of not doing things that are super self-serving, or trying to do less of that."

On "There's No Way" collaborator Julia Michaels:

"I'm just intimidated by her songwriting in general. I think, effortlessly she's the best songwriter in the world and she has the most beautiful and just effortless voice in the world. It's very true to her soul."
