Bardavon Presents is celebrating Pride 2025 with two free film screenings on Friday, June 13th, 2025, at 7:30pm. Each venue’s film was specially curated by local LGBTQ+ organizations, Dutchess County Pride Center and the Hudson Valley LGBTQ+ Community Center. These events are made possible with support from Kingston Film Foundation.
I Saw the TV Glow (2024): Friday, June 13th at the Bardavon Opera House in Poughkeepsie, NY. The film was curated by Dutchess County Pride Center.
Synopsis: Teenager Owen is just trying to make it through life in the suburbs when his classmate introduces him to a mysterious late-night TV show — a vision of a supernatural world beneath their own. In the pale glow of the television, Owen’s view of reality begins to crack.
But I’m a Cheerleader (1999): Friday, June 13th at Ulster Performing Arts Center in Kingston, NY. The film was curated by Hudson Valley LGBTQ+ Center.
Synopsis: Megan (Natasha Lyonne) considers herself a typical American girl. She excels in school and cheerleading, and she has a handsome football-playing boyfriend, even though she isn't that crazy about him. So she's stunned when her parents decide she's gay and send her to True Directions, a boot camp meant to alter her sexual orientation. While there, Megan meets a rebellious and unashamed teen lesbian, Graham (Clea DuVall). Though Megan still feels confused, she starts to have feelings for Graham.
