Miles of Hope Invites the Public to Annual Community Walk for Breast Cancer

Nonprofit celebrates 20 years of providing services and hope to Hudson Valley residents

Pleasant Valley, NY – 9/12/2024 – The Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation invites the community to join their 21st Annual Community Walk for Breast Cancer on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at James Baird State Park in Pleasant Valley, NY. The walk takes place on an internal road in the park and will begin at 9:00 a.m. rain or shine.

This year's walk is being held in honor of Tricia Miyoshi, a courageous breast cancer survivor who has inspired countless others with her strength and positive spirit.

"I am both surprised and honored to be this year’s Honoree for the Miles of Hope 21st Annual Community Walk for Breast Cancer,” said Miyoshi. “Miles of Hope is an incredible organization that continually supports those who have been affected by breast cancer. I have met many strong warriors and survivors while attending the various events held each year and it is inspiring to see how everyone supports one another.”

The event promises a fun-filled day for the whole family. Participants can lace up their walking shoes, form a team, and wear pink with pride! Live music, delicious food trucks, giveaways, and Miles of Hope merchandise will add to the festive atmosphere. There will be prizes for the team with the best name, the team which raises the most money, and the largest team (most walkers).

Since its inception in 2004, Miles of Hope has been a beacon of support for those affected by breast cancer in the Hudson Valley. Through fundraising events like the Community Walk, the Foundation has provided more than $3.4 million to individuals and families.

During the past 20 years, Miles of Hope has helped those affected by breast cancer with the cost of copays, medications, medical equipment, transportation to appointments, and much more. These funds empower patients to focus on healing by assisting with financial burdens, funding vital support services, and awarding scholarships to deserving students.

"We are incredibly grateful for the community's unwavering support over the past 20 years," said Pari Forood, Executive Director of Miles of Hope. "The Walk is a powerful reminder that no one is alone in this fight. Together, we can make a significant impact on the lives of those touched by breast cancer."
