Derek Jeter is reportedly closer to owning a baseball team.
Bloomberg News reports the group led by Jeter and ex-Florida Governor Jeb Bush have reached an agreement to buy the Miami Marlins.
According to ESPN, the group submitted a $1.3 billion bid for the team. There is still a long way to go in the ownership process. No contract has been signed yet and the MLB needs to approve the sale.
Jeffrey Loria, 76, bought the Marlins in 2002 for $158.5 million. Any sale of the team would require the approval of 75 percent of MLB teams.
