Alf Actor Dead At 75

Max Wright, who's known best for his role as Willie Tanner, the dad in ALF, passed away on Wednesday (June 26). He was 75 years old. The actor had been battling cancer for a long time and as TMZ reports passed away at his home in Hermosa Beach, California. He was originally diagnosed with lymphoma in 1995 but had been in remission for quite some time.

ALF, the puppet-led sitcom about a cat-eating alien, was a hit in the '80s and ran for four seasons, between 1986 and 1990. Aside from starring in that show, Wright was also featured in shows including Buffalo Bill, Cheers, Misfits of Science, Dudley and Norm. He also starred in a number of movies like All That Jazz, Reds, The Sting II, Soul Man, and The Shadow, among others.

Wright's wife Linda Ybarrondo died in 2017 after a battle with breast cancer. The two were married since 1965 and share two children together.

Michu Meszaros, Wright's costar who played the show's lovable extraterrestrial namesake (Alien Life Form) died in June 2016 at the age of 76.

Last year, there were talks of rebooting ALF; however, no network was willing to back the project.
