St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie is changing its name to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center. The assets of the hospital are being purchased by Westchester Medical Center in bankruptcy proceedings.  The Sisters of  St. Francis requested the name change since the hospital will be transitioning from a Catholic affiliated hospital to a secular hospital.  In a release Michael Israel, President and CEO of Westchester Medical Center said, “The new name highlights the role the organization will play in the future, a healthcare partnership to care for the residents of the Hudson Valley region today, and far into the future during “our next 100 years.”
